Lekker saamkuier by Vastrap Sokkie

Daar is niks so lekker as ‘n sokkie op ‘n Saterdagaand nie! Vra maar vir die sowat 100 Suid-Afrikaners wat onlangs uit Georgia, Tenessee en Kentucky opgeruk het om die Vastrap Sokkie en Boeremark in Mableton GA by te woon.

Organiseerder, Nicolette Venter, sê dit was ‘n wonderlike geleentheid om te netwerk, goeie samesyn te geniet, saam te eet en net lekker te kuier. Natuurlik alles in Afrikaans!

By dié boerejol is daar gewals, ge-Macarena en gesakkie-sakkie. Die luidsprekers het alles van township musiek tot Snotkop se treffers, Klipwerf se boereklanke en bietjie country geblêr.

Nicolette sê die klomp het weer bewys “Afrikaners is plesierig en dan maak ons mos so”.

Die doel van die Vastrap Sokkie is om vir ‘n oomblik van die negatiewe dinge te vergeet en net lekker te jol.

By die Vastrap Boeremark was daar heerlike eg Suid-Afrikaanse lekkernye en snuisterye te koop. Nicolette vertel die tafels het gekreun onder koeksisters, biltong, beskuit, melktert, wyn en boereworsrolletjies om net ‘n paar te noem. As die verlange groot word, onthou om die volgende saamkuier by te woon en die gees van Afrika behoue te laat bly in die vreemde.
