South Africa’s Ambassador in the USA, HE Nomaindiya Mfeketo, recently announced that she is returning to SA. Her tenure was marked by exceptional governance, particularly during the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Her resolute leadership played a pivotal role in fortifying bilateral relations and fostering an environment of collaboration and mutual respect between the two nations, and her handling of the crisis showcased her qualities not just as a diplomat, but as a compassionate human being who was indeed a ‘mother’ to all South Africans in the USA.

To honour Ambassador Mfeketo, SACCUSA acknowledged her role by presenting her with a certificate of appreciation. Throughout the global health crisis Ambassador Mfeketo extended her unwavering support to the South African community in the USA. Her empathetic approach, thoughtful insights, and proactive measures resonated with many and created a sense of belonging and security at a time when it was most needed.

Her time as ambassador had many highlights and several initiatives were launched to ensure the welfare of South Africans abroad and enhance their connection with their homeland.
