Many Saffas moving to the USA

17 Oct 22 | Chamber News

SA Chamber USA recently obtained data from the United Nations which confirms the USA is the 3rd most popular destination for South African immigrants, preceded by the UK and Australia.

The Department of Home Affairs and Statistics South Africa does not track data on emigration. However, the UN keeps data on migration and where South Africans have emigrated to over the last few decades. According to the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs’ 2020 International Migrant Stock report, by the end of 2020, 914,901 South Africans were living in other countries and territories, up from 786,554 in 2015.

Three times as many people emigrated from South Africa between 2015 and 2020 – over 128,000 people – than between 2010 and 2015 (43,000 people), the data showed. The USA has the third most migrant stock from South Africa, with over 117,000 residents listing RSA as their birth country. It has become more important than ever before to support each other and grow our network of South Africans in the USA.

Congratulations to our SA Chamber USA member in Dallas Jacques Bronkhorst for his nomination by D Magazine as a 2022 Top Real Estate Producer! South Africans are top performers in the USA. Well done Jacques.
