Freedom Day celebrated in New York

South Africans in the USA celebrated Freedom Day with a variety of events held between the SA Embassy and the South African Chamber of Commerce in the USA.

Ambassador Mrs Nomaindiya Mfeketo and Consul General of New York, Mr Motumisi Tawana, hosted a wonderful event at The Space at Flatiron, New York. The event was addressed by the Consul General and the Commissioner for International Affairs of New York City, Mr Edward Mermelstein.

New York’s Nasdaq also came alive on Freedom Day with images of former President Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and messages of South Africa rotating on its massive billboard.
