World famous author Maya Angelou once said, “each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women.”

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8 and commemorates the social, political, and economic achievements of women.

This year’s theme ‘gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’ was also celebrated by SACCUSA women. The Mexican Consul General in Atlanta, Javier Diaz de Leon, held an event in conjunction with the Dean of the Atlanta Consular Corps.

In support of multiculturalism, the work of Mexican photographer, Claudia Garcia-Miradas, was also launched.

SACCUSA representatives Magda Odendaal and Justine Diamond joined a group of women from various cultural backgrounds to celebrate women of the world.
