Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika – God bless Africa. What better way to start off a beautiful day of celebrating the South African heritage of your homeland than by singing the National Anthem.

This is how the South African Mid-West community commenced their celebrations when a young South African student, now studying at Colombia College in Chicago, sang the anthem of her homeland with deep pride.

Consul General Phumzile Mazibuko said many South Africans have immersed themselves in the American society and are making a difference where they live and work.

The Ambassador of South Africa, Nomaindiya Mfeketo, thanked everyone for their support and encouraged all to share their cultural diversity with America.

South Africans love to express their culture through food and wine, and this was exactly what they did to end off a beautiful day.
