The World Chamber of Commerce (WCC) recently honoured heroes of the community and recognised their extraordinary efforts to promote business opportunities and humanitarian goals, further improving general society. For over a decade, the WCC has striven to foster business, cultural, and humanitarian initiatives.

The Global Heroes Award gala event was held at the Georgia State Capitol and recipients included U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young, Ambassador at the OAS, Gandy Thomas, actor and producer Lou Gossett Jr, Senator Donzella James, the Consul General of Germany Melanie Moltmann, Bobby “Zorro” Hunter, various mayors, Commissioner Larry Gator Rivers, NBA All-Star Dale Davis and Stan Cottrell, world ultra runner.

Ambassador Young received the world chamber of commerce humanitarian hero recognition award during the ceremony. SACCUSA’s Neil Diamond and Magda Odendaal attended the event as part of their continued initiatives to forge relationships with other business chambers and had the opportunity to exchange thoughts with Young. The WCC facilitates exchange between America and other countries, improving international relations, and assisting with global business. History demonstrates political issues take second place for countries with common financial goals.

For over a decade the world chamber of commerce has fostered business, cultural, and humanitarian initiatives across the world.
Ms Laurie Sousa has been instrumental in including South Africa with other nations into the world chamber of commerce.

Connecting with Harlem globe trotters

The South African Chamber of Commerce in the USA (SACCUS) recently connected with the Harlem Globe Trotters as part of a youth development initiative. Legendary basketball player Michael Douglas has travelled to over 100 countries to motivate youth by sharing a positive attitude and embracing diversity.

The Michael Douglas Youth Foundation was established to help individuals and communities realise their optimal potential. The mission of the youth foundation is to provide activities that are fun, educational and which promote a model of healthy living.

SACCUSA is exploring opportunities with Michael Douglas to develop and grow youth potential for communities from Africa.
