SACCUSA’s Vice-President Magda Odendaal recently attended a gala event at the American Cornerstone Institute with the keynote speaker, former Cabinet Secretary, Dr Ben Carson. The event was held at Mount Vernon near Washington DC and Odendaal represented the chamber.
Carson is an American retired neurosurgeon and politician who served as the 17th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 2017 to 2021. He was also a candidate for President of the United States.
The American Cornerstone Institute (ACI) was founded by Dr Carson whose vision is to keep on fighting for the principles that have guided him through life. According to the Cornerstone website, Dr Carson has proven through his example and policy making solutions, which are guided by the principles of faith, liberty, community, and life are effective, that he aims to point the nation toward the common good.
Odendaal is a respected international speaker and businesswoman who has experienced disappointment and envy in the corporate world. Due to many years of good relationship building and her role as vice-president of SACCUSA, she was honoured to be invited to the convention.
“The conference created a platform for us to create trust and cooperation between SA businesses in the USA and their American counterparts,” Odendaal said.
