Visits to the USA led to a story book wedding and an exciting new venture of Wine and Horses across two continents.
The De Wet family have been making wine and breeding champion racehorses since 1867 in the Robertson Valley, South Africa.
It is through his passion for horses that Nic de Wet, 5th Generation co-owner of the Prospect Farm and Winery, met a beautiful young American lady who was a horse rider on the USA International Team.
Subsequent visits to the USA led to a story book wedding and an exciting new venture of Wine and Horses across two continents. She too was from a renowned equestrian family, steeped in history and tradition. Her horse farm is non-other than the famous Leatherwood Stud based in Virginia.
Nic wasted no time is turning this great name into a wine label, showcasing and honouring the great stallion, Leatherwood King, on the front.
This stallion was himself a World Champion in 1941 and his name can be traced back a few generations on most American pedigrees.
