In an exciting and progressive move, the South African Chamber of Commerce in the USA (SACCUSA) is extending its unwavering support to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) wine producers in the Western Cape. This initiative is supported by Mr Heinrich April, a member of the Chamber’s Advisory Board, who is leading the charge in Cape Town. This inspiring journey began with an invitation from the US Ambassador to South Africa, Mr Rueben Brigety, to
Mr April and SACCUSA.

The US Consul General in Cape Town, Mr Todd P. Haskell launched an extraordinary campaign aimed at promoting wines crafted by BIPOC wine makers, cellar curators, and vineyard owners in the Western Cape. The collaborative efforts between the US Consulate and passionate wine enthusiasts are not only supporting the export of exceptional wines from this region, but are also fostering diversity and inclusion within the wine industry. This initiative shines a spotlight on the exceptional talents and craftsmanship of BIPOC wine producers, highlighting their invaluable contributions. SACCUSA, as the authoritative voice of South African business in the USA, stands firmly behind this endeavour.

“We are committed to supporting BIPOC wines as they make their mark and flourish in the US market. It’s a toast to celebrating their outstanding contributions and a pledge to empower and elevate their presence in the world of wine,” said Mr April.
