Chamber commits support to United Nations

The South African Ambassador Xolisa Mabhongo, who is part of the permanent mission of South Africa to the United Nations in New York, met with SACCUSA in August to discuss the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The agenda was adopted by all UN member states and provides a blueprint for peace and prosperity for all on the planet. The UN recognises that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

SACCUSA pledged its commitment to the agenda. The UN spends billions of dollars in Africa and there is a focused intervention to ensure greater participation by service providers on the African continent.

The Chamber will be sharing information from the South African permanent mission with SA businesses that would like to play a more active role as service providers.
